Kathmandu, Nepal, August 3, 2021: Four Karnali Provincial Assembly lawmakers representing the dissident faction of the CPN UML led by Madhav Kumar Nepal have also lost their assembly seats after the Supreme Court (SC) quashed its interim order issued on June 10 against the party's decision to remove them from the posts.
Passing the final verdict on the writ petition filed by the UML on behalf of the Chairman KP Sharma Oli, a division bench of Chief Justice Cholendra Shumsher JB Rana and Justice Prakash Kumar Dhungana quashed the apex court's interim order on Monday.
With the verdict, four lawmakers - Prakash Jwala, Amar Bahadur Thapa, Nanda Singh Budha, and Kurmaraj Shahi have lost their posts as provincial assembly members.
The UML had taken disciplinary actions by sacking from the post of provincial assembly members after they voted in favor of Chief Minister Mahendra Bahadur Shahi, who represents the CPN Maoist Center, by crossing the floor during vote of confidence.
