Jumla, Nepal: Jumla district remained tense after government forcefully airlifted senior orthopedic doctor Govinda KC, who was there for his 15th hunger strike since 20 days demanding reform in the medical education in Nepal.
Doctors, nurses of the Karnali Academy of Health Sciences and the people in general including the local civil society leaders have staged a sit-in inside the hospital against the government’s move to forcefully airlift the agitating Dr. KC instead of fulfilling his genuine demands.
The government used a Nepal Army helicopter to airlift Dr. KC. Karnali Province Chief Minister Mahendra Bahadur Shahi and Home Minister Naresh Bhandari has also reached in Jumla.
Security presence is intensified in and around the Karnali Academy of Health Sciences with intent to control the untoward incidents.
