Kathmandu, Nepal, August 10, 2021: The ex-Gurkha Armies, who had been staging a relay hunger strike in front of the office of the British Prime Minister Boris Johnson demanding equal pension pay, have now launched a fast-unto-death strike. 

The Gurkha veterans, who have been launching fast-into-death strike at Number 10 Downing Street in London, have been claiming that the ongoing fast-into-death strike would not come to end unless the British government addresses their demands.   

Though the ex-Gurkha Armies have been fighting since long demanding equal pension pay, recent one fast-into-death strike is taken cautiously from different sectors as three Gurkha veterans, who sat in the fast-into-death strike, have been claiming that they would be ready even to die if their demands were not addressed by the British government.  

Responding to the fast-into-death strike of the Gorkha veterans, Nepal government has already urged them to put off hunger strike assuring for the diplomatic initiation to solve their demands. However, they have denied the government’s proposal stating that launching fast-into-death strike is their compulsion. 

We are prepared even to die for an equal pension, Dhan Gurung, who is one out of three persons sat in the fast-into-death strike, said adding that they wanted to meet Prime Minister Boris Johnson to meet to apprise their demands. . 

Earlier in 2009, British government had allowed to all the Gurkha veterans, who retired before 1997 with at least four years of service, to settle in the UK. Popular actress Joanna Lumley had taken initiation for the negotiation between the Gorkha veterans and the Britihs government.

The British government had begun to recruit Gurkhas Armies since 1815 for their bravery.
