Kathmandu, Nepal: A case has been filed against Inspector General of the Police (IGP) Prakash Aryal charging him for neglecting the Supreme Court (SC)’s verdict to detain murder-convict Balkrishna Dhungel.
Senior Advocate Dinesh Tripathi filed a case at the SC on Tuesday, demanding action against IGP Aryal in line with the Section 17 of Justice Administration Act 2016. As per the provision of the act, the accused will face a one-year jail term along with a fine of RS 10, 000 if the accused found guilty.
CPN Maoist’s leader Dhungel was convicted in the murder of Ujjan Kumar Shrestha of Okhaldhunga district. While delivering the verdict, the SC had ordered the police to apprehend fugitive murder-convict Dhungel within seven days and present him before the court.
Though years have passed, the police have been pretending to have failed to trace the fugitive murder-convict Dhungel even though he used to wander in and around the Singhdurbar as the member of the parliament.
