Kathmandu, Nepal, September 17, 2024: Indrajatra, the traditional cultural festival of Nepal, particularly the Newar community in Kathmandu valley, is being observed today amid different functions.
The festival used to be celebrated by worshiping the God, Devraj Indra, the God of rains and good harvest, especially in the three districts of the Kathmandu Valley.
In the day, a sacred wooden pole called Lingo, used to be erected at Hanuman Dhoka Durbar Square area.
The chariot procession begins with typical cultural songs and dances.
The government has announced public holey day in Kathmandu valley to mark the festival.
