Kathmandu, Nepal: The Government of Japan has handed over a newly constructed classroom building to Shree Bheri Tribeni Secondary School in Jajarkot District, marking a significant step toward improving educational infrastructure in the region.

The handover ceremony was held on Tuesday in the presence of Shinto Yasuharu, Deputy Chief of Mission of Japan to Nepal.

The project, titled “The Reconstruction of Classrooms for Shree Bheri Tribeni Secondary School,” was implemented under Japan’s Grant Assistance for Grassroots Human Security Projects (GGP) with financial support of USD 170,159 (approximately Rs 22.7 million).

Speaking at the ceremony, Yasuharu congratulated and expressed appreciation to all those involved in the project, stating that the new facility will provide students with a safe and conducive learning environment.

Established in 1985, the school serves nearly 500 students from Jajarkot and neighboring districts. Its original building was completely destroyed in the November 2023 earthquake.

The newly constructed 12-room classroom block is expected to significantly enhance the learning environment for students while further strengthening the longstanding friendship between the people of Nepal and Japan.

The project was implemented by Volunteer Corps Nepal (VCN), a non-governmental organization established in 2018, which has been actively working in socio-educational development, disaster relief, and volunteer services across the country.

The GGP programme of the Government of Japan supports community-level initiatives aimed at improving socio-economic conditions. Since its launch in 1991, more than 200 such projects have been completed in Nepal.
