Kathmandu, Nepal April 26, 2020: The Metropolitan Police Range (MPR), Teku, Kathmandu has on Sunday refused to register the first information report (FIR) filed by the newly formed Janata Samajwadi Party-Nepal lawmaker Surendra Yadav alleging  two lawmakers affiliated to the ruling head Nepal Communist Party (NCP) and an ex-IGP of kidnapping him.

Chief of the Metropolitan Police Range, SSP Shyamlal Gyawali refused to register the FIR claiming that the case was beyond jurisdiction of his office.  As the alleged abduction had taken place in Mahottari district, such a case should be registered in the concerned district, SSP Gyawali had said. 

Dr Yadav had moved to the police office to register the FIR along with other leaders of the newly formed Janata Samajwadi Party-Nepal including Dr Baburam Bhattarai, Upendra Yadav and Rajendra Mahato claiming that ruling head NCP lawmakers duo Mahesh Basnet and Kisan Shrestha, and former Inspector General of Nepal Police, Sarbendra Khanal had abducted the lawmaker Surendra Yadav on April 22. 

They have also a claim that the kidnapping of his party’s lawmaker had taken place at the behest of Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli to split the then Samajbadi Party. The leaders have vent ire against of the police for not registering the case.
