Kathmandu, Nepal, March 1, 2022: CPN (Maoist Center) Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal has not only defended but expressed his happiness for endorsing the Millennium Challenge Corporation (MCC) with interpretative declaration from the parliament.

I'm very happy after the MCC endorsed from the parliament, Dahal said at the press conference organized at his Khumaltar based resident on Monday evening. The endorsement of the MCC has not only saved alliance of the incumbent government but the country and the constitution from accident, Dahal said.

Earlier, Dahal had been protesting the MCC even deploying his cadres on the streets challenging that his party would leave the government if the MCC was endorsed from the parliament. But, an agreement was held among the ruling allies on Sunday morning, just hours before convening the meeting of the House of Representatives (HoR), to endorse the MCC with interpretative declaration.

The interpretative declaration was brought after several experts on international law, Dahal said justifying the party’s decision to endorse the MCC from the parliament with interpretative declaration.

During the function, he also expressed his dissatisfaction against some leaders including vice-chair Narayan Kaji Shrestha for rejecting party’s decision to endorse the MCC with interpretative declaration. Krishna Bahadur Mahara, Giriraj Mani Pokhrel, Lila Mani Pokhrel and Dev Gurung have also been opposing the MCC along with Shrestha triggering a fear of another split in the party.

Shrestha should not have gone out to the public believing that all the cadres would rally behind him for opposing the MCC by going against the party’s decision, Dahal said. Some cadres of the party have also declared their resignation protesting the party’s decision to rectify the MCC from the parliament.
