Kathmandu, Nepal, January, 9, 2022: CPN (Maoist Centre) leader and provincial assembly member Shalikram Jammakattel has been appointed as chief minister of Bagmati Province on Monday. Before appointing in the post, Jammakattel had laid claim to the post with the support of 70 members of the 110-seat provincial assembly.
“Provincial head Yadav Chandra Sharma has appointed CPN (Maoist Centre)’s member of the Bagmati Provincial Assembly Shalikram Jammakattel as the chief minister of the province as per Article 168(2) of the constitution,” reads the statement issued by the office of the Bagmati Province Chief Yadav Chandra Sharma.
Jammakattel has bagged the support of UML’s 27 members, the Maoist Centre’s 21 members, Rastriya Prajatantra Party’s 13 members, CPN (Unified Socialist)’s seven members and Hamro Nepali Party (HNP)’s two members to be appointed as the fourth chief minister of the Province.
