Kathmandu, Nepal, December 19, 2022: The Miss World pageant is going to support the families of Nepalese migrant workers and other countries, who lost their lives while building a stadium for the World Cup football in Qatar.


Dipendra Gurung, co-president of Miss World, has announced through a social media that the world pageant is going to support the families of Nepalese migrant workers and other countries as part of the social responsibility of the organization. 

It is believed that more than a thousand Nepali workers would have lost their lives during the construction of the stadium in Qatar for World Cup 2022 that concluded on Sunday.

Gurung, who was in Doha to watch the World Cup finals, has announced this through an Instagram post. The children, widows and parents of the deceased workers will be addressed through upcoming 71st edition of Miss World’s beauty with purpose program, Gurung states.

In the Beauty with Purpose program under the World Beauty pageant, the contestants of the Miss World pageant used to be involved on social work.

According to him, the families of migrant workers from Nepal, India, Pakistan, Bangladesh and the Philippines who lost their lives while working in the construction of the stadium will be benefited with cash. 

Gurung is officially taking charge as the co-chairman of Miss World from the 2023 edition of the Miss World pageant.
