Kathmandu, Nepal: The National Assembly (NA) meeting has been postponed for Wednesday, August 1 at 11:00 am following an obstruction from main opposition Nepali Congress on Wednesday.
NC Lawmakers obstructed the meeting by standing from their seats notwithstanding the National Assembly Chair Ganesh Prasad Timilsina’s repeated request to carry on with the proceedings.
NC lawmaker Badri Prasad Pandey said they would not allow parliamentary proceeding unless the government holds meaningful talks with Dr Govinda KC to end his hunger strike. Dr KC’s hunger strike entered in the 26th day on Wednesday.
Likewise, NC lawmaker Pandey demanded action against B&C Medical College’s Executive Director Durga Prasai for his controversial comments directed towards the character of Nepali female students studying MBBS in Bangladesh.
