Kathmandu, Nepal, December 17, 2019: The Central Working Committee meeting of the main opposition Nepali Congress (NC), that was scheduled for Monday afternoon has been put off yet again, thanks to two the differences between factions- one led party president Sher Bahadur Deuba and another led party party’s senior leader Ram Candra Poudel.

The Poudel led dissident faction has been boycotting the meeting accusing the party leadership of trying to increase the number of different departments of the party to 41 from 28 and derail the much-awaited 14th General Convention of the party.

Reliable source close to the NC claims that both the factions have reached nearer to the consensus. Second rung leaders from both the sides have been holding rounds of meeting and sittings to seek the compromising points.

‘The rounds of meetings have become success to bring closer to the warring factions,’ a leader involved in the negotiation said preferring anonymity that all the contentious issues related to the 14th National Convention, number of party departments, constitution of Nepal Students Union and extension of tenure of Tarun Dal’s working committee will be settled before the next meeting scheduled for Wednesday afternoon.
