Kathmandu, Nepal, October 12, 2021: The unsolved disputes in the ruling head Nepali Congress has posed threat to hold the party’s 14th general convention that is scheduled for coming November 25-29 in Kathmandu. 

Though the Nepali Congress has concluded its local level conventions in 64 districts, it has failed even to distribute active membership in three districts namely as- Bara, Rasuwa and Rautahat.

Likewise, remaining 10 districts- Dhanusha, Siraha, Saptari, Parsa, Mahottari, Sarlahi, Banke, Surkhet, Kailali and Dolpa have failed to hold the local level general convention though the row related to the active membership was already settled.  

As out of the 753 local units, only 550 have concluded local level general convection it is likely that the Nepali Congress would defer its scheduled 14th general convention till mid-December.

Earlier, the Nepali Congress had planned to hold its general convention on September 1-4. But, it was differed owing to the unsettled dispute over active membership distribution. 

Though the possibilities to hold the general convention on the scheduled date are getting slim, none of the sides, regardless of establishment faction or opponent one, have spoken yet.

Considering to the delay, President and Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba had already instructed Gyanendra Bahadur Karki to consult with the leaders and concerned agencies.
