Kathmandu, Nepal, April 5, 2021: Nepal has claimed the T20 International Tri-series after registering a comfortable victory against Papua New Guinea (PNG) in the final match played at the Tribhuvan International Cricket Stadium on Monday. Nepal became success to clinch the title unbeaten in all five matches of the series played at the same home ground.
Dipendra Singh Airee played an unbeaten 54-run half-century for Nepal in the match. He has become the first Nepali player to complete one thousand runs in T20 international cricket from today’s game.
With the outstanding performance, Airee has received the player of the series award for having the made the most runs by any batsman in the series. Airee in the five matches made a total of 255 runs at an average of 85 runs.
After losing the toss, Nepal had lost 6 wickets and added 168 runs. Chasing the target of 169 runs, PNG lost all their wickets in 16.1 overs and managed to score only 118 runs. The PNG had failed to achieve the target as the entire team was sent back to the pavilion at a score of 118 runs in just 16.1 overs.
The Nepali skipper Sandeep Lamichhane picked two wickets while Karan KC etched three wickets to his name in his three overs. The tri-nation T20 International series was played between Nepal, PNG and Malaysia.
