Kathmandu, Nepal, May 24, 2021: Nepal has on Monday reported 7,220 new infection cases of coronavirus from across the country. With the addition, nationwide coronavirus infection tally has advanced to 520,461.

Likewise, 185 more deaths related to the coronavirus infection have been reported from across the country in the past 24 hours. With the addition, nationwide death tally has advanced to 6,531.

Of the newly infected cases, 2785 new cases were reported from Kathmandu valley alone. According to the Ministry of Health and Population (MoHP), 1,806 infection cases surfaced in Kathmandu, 681 in Lalitpur and 298 in Bhaktapur district.

Similarly, the MoHP has also stated that 7,135 people, who were infected earlier with the virus, have been discharged after getting recovery in the past 24 hours.  With the addition, recovery tally of the country has advanced to 398,483 till the date on Monday.

There are currently 115, 447 active cases across the country. Of them, only 924 individuals are staying in various quarantine facilities across Nepal.

According to the MoHP, 7,220 new infection cases were identified while conducting 20,453 total tests in different labs in the last 24 hours. Of them, 19,846 were PCR tests while 607 were antigen tests. 

Globally, over 167 million people have been infected by the COVID-19 while 3.4 million people have lost their lives to the deadly pandemic.

Likewise, over 148 million people have recovered while more than 15 million cases are still active across the world.
