Kathmandu, Nepal: The Nepali Congress (NC), the largest party in the parliament, which is recently the coalition partner of the CPN Maoist Center Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal led government, has faced internal differences to finalize the name of ministers.
Not only the dissident faction of the Nepali Congress led by senior leader Ram Chandra Poudel but also the leaders from the party president Sher Bahadur Deuba are also exerting reassures to the party leadership either to include themselves with selective portfolio or to their nearer and dearer in the cabinet.
The differences was exposed after Nepali Congress central committee member Shekhar Koirala, who is considered t loyal to dissident faction led by party leader Poudel, denied any portfolio except the Ministry of foreign affairs.
Responding to the party president Deuba’s repeated call to be included in the cabinet, Koirala had made clear that he would not join the Cabinet even if not given the foreign ministry portfolio.
Similarly, another influential leader from the Deuba camp Arjun Narsingh KC, also declined the offer of a ministerial berth. According to the source close to the party, KC denied to hold the ministerial portfolio as he had a demand for deputy prime minister with home portfolio.
The Nepali Congress will get 13 portfolios in the Dahal led government. Only two Ministers from the Nepali Congress were included in the cabinet on Thursday. As Bimalendra Nidhi already sworn in as the Deputy Prime Minister and home minister, it is likely that KC would not accept other ministerial portfolio.
The dissident faction is in the state of wait and see mood. According to the source, Ramchandra Paudel have a stand that his loyal leaders should get at least six ministerial portfolio.
