Kathmandu, Nepal: Raju Raj Joshi has been fixed as candidate of the Nepali Congress for mayor post in Kathmandu Metropolitan City. Likewise, Hari Prabha Khadki has been selected as the candidate of deputy-mayor.
A meeting of party's top leaders held at the party central office in Sanepa decided to field Joshi as the candidate for mayor in Kathmandu. Though the meeting had asked Ministers duo Gagan Kumar Thapa and Nabindra Raj Joshi to become the candidate of mayor in Kathmandu Metropolitan City but they denied.
Raju Raj Joshi was officially picked as the candidate of the Nepali Congress for mayor post in Kathmandu Metropolitan City after both ministers forwarded Raju Raj Joshi as mayor's candidate. Joshi, the younger brother of Minister Joshi, is regarded as the senior leader of the Nepali Congress Kathmandu.
Joshi is a senior party leader in Kathmandu and he had served as district committee secretary when Prakashman Singh led the Kathmandu Congress. Raju Raj Joshi is brother of Minister for Industry Nabindra Raj Joshi.
