Kathmandu, Nepal, April 9, 2021: Three parties-Nepali Congress (NC), CPN (Maoist Center) and the Janata Samajbadi Party Nepal (JSPN)- are going to hold ‘decisive’ talks regarding the formation of the coalition government.
As the Maoist Center and the JSPN remained indecisive, the NC has called a meeting to be clear over the issue of forming a coalition government between the three parties; a leader of the NC said preferring anonymity.
‘As the Maoist Center and the JSPN had repeatedly been urging us to form a coalition government, we have already made a decision to this effect,’ the leader said ‘but neither the Maoist Center has withdrawn its support to the government nor the JSPN has stopped to talk with the government head CPN UML to participate the in the incumbent government.’
It was supposed earlier that formation of coalition government would be initiated soon after the Supreme Court overturned the Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli’s decision to dissolve the House of Representatives. But no tangible progress is made yet to form a coalition government even though the Prime Minister Oli has already challenged the Maoist Center to withdraw its support to the government by bringing a no-confidence motion to form a coalition government.
