Kathmandu, Nepal: A Central Committee (CC) meeting of the Nepali Congress has concluded to elect the Parliamentary Party (PP) leader on March 5 through the elections.
As consensual attempt to select the PP leader failed, the meeting held on Tuesday decided to hold elections for the PP leader on coming Monday.
Likewise, the meeting has also formed an election committee under the leadership of Central Committee member and former Spokesperson Chinkaji Shrestha.
In the 275-member strengthened Federal Parliament, Nepali Congress has 63 lawmakers, who will be eligible to cast the vote to elect the PP leader.
It is said that Party President Sher Bahadur Deuba, General Secretary Shahanka Koirala and former General Secretary Prakash Man Singh are going to vie in the post of the PP leader.
However, a source close to the Nepali Congress claims that either Koirala or Singh will vie with party president Deuba for the PP leader. It is said that election schedule will be made public by coming Friday.
