Kathmandu, Nepal, August 24, 2020: Nepal’s coronavirus (COVID-19) infection tally has reached to 32,678 after 743 new cases reported in the past 24 hours.
Among the 743 newly reported cases, 224 were from Kathmandu Valley alone. Dr. Jageshowr Gautam, spokesperson for the Ministry of Health and Population said during the regular press briefing on Monday that of the newly infected persons, 246 are females while 497 are males.
The 743 new cases of infections were confirmed after testing 10,234 specimens through PCR method in the last 24 hours, Gautam said during the press briefing.
According to him 175 persons have returned home after recovery in the past 24 hours. With the new addition, total numbers of recovery cases have reached to 18,806 in Nepal.
As of Monday, there are 13,715 active cases of infection in the country while 11,275 people are under quarantine, he said.
Likewise, death toll due to the infection of coronavirus has reached to 157 after eight more fatalities reported in the past 24 hours.
