Kathmandu, Nepal: Nepal’s Election Commission has published the final voter list, recording 19,091,375 registered voters, an increase of 187,686 from the previous House of Representatives election.
The final list includes 9,769,825 men, 9,321,336 women and 214 voters classified under the “other” category, according to figures released by the commission on Friday.
The previous House of Representatives election, held on February 21, 2026, had 18,903,689 registered voters, including 9,663,358 men, 9,240,131 women and 200 voters in the other category.
The commission has been updating the voter register since April 5, 2026, allowing eligible citizens to register, correct personal details and change their addresses, while removing the names of deceased voters and others who no longer qualify for registration.
A preliminary voter list published on September 17 contained 19,294,961 names. The commission subsequently removed 203,586 names during verification and the review of claims and objections.
Of those removed, 45,322 were deceased voters. Another 158,264 names were deleted because of duplicate registrations, renunciation or cancellation of citizenship, and other claims and objections, the commission said.
The preliminary list included people who had registered by August 31 and had reached the age of 18 by that date. During the broader registration and updating process, 430,352 people who reached voting age were added to the register, while 39,080 names were removed through routine updates before the preliminary list was published.
The initial update process therefore produced a net increase of 391,272 voters compared with the previous election’s final register. Further deletions during the verification process reduced that increase to 187,686 in the final list.
The commission has made the final voter list available on its official website, www.election.gov.np. Voter numbers can also be checked by province, district, House of Representatives constituency, provincial assembly constituency and local government.
The final count provides an updated record of eligible voters across the country following the registration and verification process. The published figures show the number of registered voters but do not indicate how many will ultimately cast ballots in a future election.
