Kathmandu, Nepal, May 12, 2021: As the opposition parties- Nepali Congress (NC), CPN (Maoist Center) and the Janata Samajbadi Party (JSP) failed to garner majorities of parliamentarians to claim the new government, it is likely that KP Sharma Oli would be reappointed as the Prime Minister.

President Bidya Devi Bhandari would like to appoint Oli as the new Prime Minister in the capacity of largest party in the parliament.

Earlier, President Bhandari had given 9:00 deadline of today to form a majority based government as per the article 76(2) of the constitution.

Though the leaders of the opposition parties held rounds of meetings today, they failed to garner majority votes thanks to the division within the Janata Samajbadi Party (JSP).

The Mahanta Thakur and Rajendra Mahato-led faction of the JSP had rejected to join in the coalition government but to support to the ruling UML to form government under the leadership of Oli.
