Kathmandu, Nepal, May 21, 2021: The opposition parties- the Nepali Congress, CPN (Maoist Center) and the Janata Samajbadi Party (JSP) including the dissident faction of the ruling CPN UML led by Madhav Kumar Nepal has initiated process to claim the majority government as per the article 76(5) of the constitution.
A meeting of the party leaders held at the parliamentary party office of the Nepali Congress on Friday Afternoon decided to claim a new government under the leadership of the Nepali Congress president Sher Bahadur Deuba.
Though the decision is not made public officially, the meeting has decided to claim the government with the sign of 149 members of the parliament.
Following the recommendation of the government, the President Bidya Devi Bhandari had on Thursday called the parties to stake claim of the new government as per the article 76(5) of the constitution.
