Kathmandu, Nepal, February 14, 2023: Prime Minister and CPN (Maoist Center) Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal has urged various factions of the Maoist movement and other fringe communist parties to get united for the cause of social justice and transformation.
Addressing a function held at the party headquarters, Paris Danda, on the occasion of the 28th Maoist People’s War Day on Monday, the prime minister Dahal said so insisting on the need for unity among the various streams of the Maoist movement for the ‘prosperity’ of the nation.
He also floated an idea of forming a socialist front to combine all the Maoist factions and other communist forces. I am in touch with the leaders of other Maoist group and communist leaders for the unification, Dahal said expressing his hope that the unification process would get momentum soon.
During his address, he also claimed that the People’s War was not just the pride of the Maoists, but was also a treasure of the entire nation. ‘There is no choice but for the major movement to bring about this change,’ he said.
The government decided to declare public holyday on Falgun 1 considering the historical necessity and underlining the need for celebrating such a ‘historic day’ officially, he said. ‘The decision is made to honor all those people who attained martyrdom, were left mutilated and injured in the course of the people’s war,’ he said.
