Kathmandu, Nepal, May 21, 2021:  Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli has defended the government’s move to recommend the president Bidya Devi Bhandari to initiate the process to form a government as per the Article 76(5) of the constitution.

Organizing a press conference at his official resident on Friday afternoon, Prime Minister Oli claimed that he intended to pave the way to form a government as per the article 76(5) before facing the vote of confidence in the parliament to bring annual budget on time as per the constitutional provision.

During the press conference, he also alleged the opposition parties including the dissident faction of his own party led by senior leader Madhav Kumar Nepal for working to bring instability in the country. The government has no any intention to push the country towards the instability but the opposition parties including the dissident faction of our own party by creating obstacle to the government, Oli said at the press conference.

The political situation has shifted into another course after President Bhandari had on Thursday invited the political parties to claim for the formation of an alternative government as per Article 76(5) without Prime Minister Oli seeking a vote of confidence in parliament as per Article 76 (4).

Though the PM Oli had to seek a vote of confidence from parliament after he was re-appointment to the post in his capacity as the leader of the largest party in parliament, the president Bhandari has called the parties on Thursday to stake claim to the government by 5:00pm today.

Following the political development, political parties have intensified consolations in different levels.
