Kathmandu, Nepal: Notwithstanding the voices of the opposition parties and the protest of the local people, Province 7 has been named as Sudurpashchim and Godawari has been fixed as its capital.
A provincial meeting of the province held on Friday took the decision through the majority votes. Not only the main opposition Nepali Congress and another opposition Rastriya Janata Party Nepal (RJP-N) but also the local people have been protesting against the plan to name the province as Sudurpashchim and Godawari as its capital.
The provincial assembly has claimed that the decision was made on the basis of the report prepared by the special panel led by provincial lawmaker Tara Lama Tamang.
Of the total 53 lawmakers in the Province 7, a total of 38 lawmakers from Nepal Communist Party (NCP) had voted in favor of motion while 14 lawmakers, 12 from Nepali Congress and two from RJPN had voted against the motion.
