Kathmandu, Nepal, December 16, 2021: Purna Bahadur Khadka and Dhan Raj Gurung have been elected as Vice Presidents of Nepali Congress (NC) under the ongoing 14th general convention of the party on Thursday.

Khadka, who was immediate part general secretary of the party and running mate of reelected president and Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba, secured 2121 votes while Gurung secured 1908 votes. 

Gurung, one of the running mate of presidential candidate Shekhar Koirala, defeated Bijaya Kumar Gachchhadar by just a margin of 2 votes. Gachchhadar secured 1906 votes. 

Of the seven contenders in the post vice president, Chandra Bhandari, another running mate of presidential candidate Koirala, bagged 1580 votes. Vice presidential candidate Sujata Koirala and Mahesh Acharya from the Prakash Man Singh-led Panel secured 644 and 589 votes respectively. Another contender from the Bimalendra Nidhi led panel Dibyeshwori Shah secured just 132 votes.
