Kathmandu, Nepal, August 24, 2021: The ruling allies of the incumbent government have condemned the language of threat used by the lawmakers aligned in the establishment faction of the CPN-UML against Speaker Agni Prasad Sapkota over the issue of expulsion of 14 UML lawmakers.
Issuing a joint statement on Monday, the ruling head Nepali Congress (NC), CPN (Maoist Centre), Janata Samajbadi Party-Nepal (JSPN), Madhav Kumar Nepal led faction of the CPN UML and Rastriya Janamaorcha condemned the language used by UML lawmakers at the Parliament Secretariat.
The language of threat used by the UML lawmakers against Speaker Sapkota is not only condemnable but against the democratic norms and the constitution, states the joint communiqué.
As Chairman KP Oli led faction of the UML had expelled 14 lawmakers aliened in the faction led by Madhav Kumar Nepal on the charge of defying the party whip, some lawmakers from the establishment faction had warned Speaker Sapkota stating that they would not remain silent if the expulsion of 14 lawmakers delayed further.
