Kathmandu, Nepal, September 03, 2020: Ruling Nepal Communist Party (NCP) has decided to recommend its vice president Bam Dev Gautam as a National Assembly member.

A Secretariat meeting of the NCP held on Thursday at official resident of Prime Minster took the decision to this effect.

With the decision, the prospects of continuing incumbent Finance Minister Yub Raj Khatiawa by nominating him as a National Assembly member has ended now. However, he would be nominated for another six month term as Fiancé Minister after resigning from the post.

Though the party had already decided to recommend Gautam as a National Assembly member, Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli, who is also the Prime Minister, had not recommended his name to the president Bidya Devi Bhandari to nominate him as a National Assembly member.

Gautam’s willing be elected as the member of the lower house of the federal parliament and the   widening differences of the party over the issue of dividing the posts among the rival factions of the party had played role not to bring into implement the party decision.

He had lost the 2017 parliamentary election from Bardiya-1.
