Kathmandu, Nepal, february 2, 2022: The Supreme Court (SC), the apex court of the country, has on Monday issued an order in the name of the government and the federal parliament to ensure rights of the Dalits (untouchable) community as provisioned in the article 24 and 40 of the constitution of Nepal.
Responding to the writ petition filed by advocate Prakash Nepali demanding social justice to the Dalit community, a division bench of Justices Dr Ananda Mohan Bhattarai and Prakash Kumar Dhungana issued the order to effectively implement the constitutional provisions by making needed mechanisms as well as plan within three months.
The bench ahs also asked to review reform and strengthen the existing policies and laws in consultation with the concerned stakeholders for the effective implementation of rights ensured by the constitution.
