Kathmandu, Nepal, May 27, 2021: The Supreme Court (SC), the Apex Court of the country, decided to hear the writ petitions filed demanding restoration of the dissolved House of Representatives (HoR) through the constitutional bench.

A single bench of the SC led by Chief Justice Cholendra Shumsher JBR has on Thursday decided to forward all the writ petitions to the Constitutional Bench after initial hearing on different 19 writ petitions filed on Friday demanding an interim order against the government’s decision to dissolve the HoR.

The SC is going to form a five member Constitutional Bench under the leadership of Chief Justice Rana to hear the writ petitions filed demanding the restoration of the HoR. Other remaining four members of the Constitutional Bench are yet to be fixed.

It is said that the Constitutional Bench will begin hearing from Friday. As many as 28 writ petitions had registered at the SC against the government’s decision to dissolve the HoR demanding interim order.

Following the recommendation of the Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli, President Bidya Devi Bhandari had dissolved the HoR on May 22 for the second time.

Earlier, the HoR was dissolved on December 20 last year but restored on February 23 earlier this year from the SC order.
