Kathmandu, Nepal: Special Court has acquitted five former footballers including former captain of national football team Sagar Thapa alleged of match-fixing in national and international games.
A bench of Special Court judges Baburam Regmi, Pramod Kumar Baidya and Narayan Prasad Pokharel acquitted Thapa, Sandip Rai, Ritesh Thapa, Anjan KC, Bikash Singh Kshetri and team physiotherapist Dejiv Thapa.
Nepal Police had arrested the footballers on October 14, 2015 for their involvement in the match fixing.
It was claimed that the accused footballers had involved in the match fixing of international football matches since 2008.
