Kathmandu, Nepal, February 7, 2021: The Supreme Court (SC), the Apex Court of the country, has on Sunday issued a show-cause order over the recent appointments in various constitutional bodies.
Responding to a writ petition filed by Speaker Agni Prasad Sapkota seeking the invalidation of the appointments in constitutional bodies, single bench of Justice Prakash Kumar Dhungana issued the show-cause order in the name of President Bidya Devi Bhandari, Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli, Chief Justice Cholendra Shumsher JBR, the Office of the Constitutional Council, and Chairman of the National Assembly.
Claiming the appointments in the constitutional bodies as unconstitutional, Speaker Sapkota had moved to the SC on Friday demanding scrap the ‘unconstitutional’ appointments.
