Kathmandu, Nepal, June 17, 2021: The Supreme Court (SC), the apex court of the country, has on Friday ordered the government not to implement its decision to export stones, sand and pebbles.
Responding to a writ petition filed against the government’s decision unveiled through the budget of the fiscal year 2021/022, a joint bench of Chief Justice Cholendra SJB Rana, justices Mira Khadka, Hari Krishna Karki and Bishwambhar Prasad Shrestha passed the verdict to order the government to this effect.
The government’s decision to export sand, stones and pebbles to bridge the widening trade deficit was widely condemned from different sectors.
