Guwahati, July 2 : Three more moral policing incidents were happened in Assam in past 72 hours.
According to the reports, a youth was allegedly beaten up by villagers suspecting him as a thief in Assam’s Darrang district on July 1.
The incident was happened at Doipam area under Dalgaon assembly constituency where a section of villagers beat a youth identified as Imaruzul Haque on suspicion of being a thief.
When the mob attacked the youth, some police personnel were also present on the spot.
Later police had rescued the youth.
On the other hand, a woman was brutally beaten up by a mob over suspicion of being a child lifter in Assam’s Sonitpur district on June 29 night.
The incident was took place at Thelamara area near Dhekiajuli where the woman tied to a pole and a mob beat her brutally.
Later, police had rescued the injured woman and admitted her at hospital.
In separate incident, another woman was beaten up by a section of people at Murajhar area in central Assam’s Hojai district on June 29 night.
According to the reports, the woman was tied to a pole and brutally assaulted by a group of locals over an alleged illicit love affair with one of the villagers.
The victim has developed a close relationship with a man from the same village after separation from her husband.
While the victim hearing the news that her lover was trying to marry other, she reached his house in order to stop the wedding, but some locals physically assaulted the woman.
Later police had rescued the woman and admitted at Nagaon civil hospital.
Meanwhile, Murajhar police had registered a case into the incident and arrested four persons.
Ajit Terang, Officer-in-Charge of Murajhar police station said that, when they knew about the incident a police team had rushed the spot and rescued the injured woman and admitted her at Nagaon civil hospital.
“We have arrested four persons so far in connection with the incident. We are trying to nab few others who involved in the incident,” Ajit Terang said.
On June 23, some local people beat up a man and a woman for being allegedly involved in an illicit affair at Kathiatoli area in central Assam’s Nagaon district.
Following the incident, Nagaon district police had arrested eight persons in connection with the moral policing incident.
On June 17, a girl and a boy were beaten up by some people at Pukhuripar area under Rongjuli police station in Goalpara district while the local girl travelling with the non locality boy on a motorcycle.
The girl is being assaulted by a group of men for having a relationship with a boy.
Following the incident, police had registered a suo moto case (No.73/18 u/s 120B/143/342/325/354B IPC) at Rongjuli police station on June 20 night and police had arrested the main accused named Qurban Ali (39) and two other persons seen assaulting the victim girl.
On the other hand, a youth was beaten up by some people in Assam's Darrang district alleged that the youth trying to meet a local girl.
The incident took place at Mangaldoi Kalaigaon area in Lower Assam’s Darrang district, where the youth hailing from Gauripur area in Dhubri district brutally assaulted by a mob.
The victim youth was identified as Bijay Rai worked in Airtel company and he tried to meet a girl of Mangaldoi Kalaigaon locality.
When local people knew this, some people caught the youth and beat him.
On June 8 last, two youths from Guwahati were beaten to death by a mob in the name of child traffickers at Panjuri village under Dokmoka police station in Karbi Anglong district.
