Kathmandu, Nepal, September 28, 2021: The main opposition CPN-UML has continued its obstruction in the meeting of the House of Representatives (HoR) on Monday. The UML lawmakers have been obstructing the meeting of the HoR since the beginning of the session of the parliament demanding action against 14 of its lawmakers. 

As the party had decided to remove its 14 lawmakers including Madhav Kumar Nepal, it has been demanding their removal from members of the parliament even though have already formed CPN (United Socialist) formally splitting from the CPN UML.

As UML lawmakers picketed the rostrum chanting slogans, Speaker Agni Prasad Sapkota urged them to cooperate in continuing the House proceedings reminding to the provision in the House of Representatives Regulations that a topic that is under consideration of the court cannot be discussed in the parliament session.

Notwithstanding to the repeated urge made by the Speaker Sapkota, UML lawmakers continued their obstruction. They have also been demanding Speaker Sapkota’s resignation alleging him for failing to mention the role of speaker by rising above from the partisan interests. 

Meanwhile, Janata Samajbadi Party (JSP) Federal Council Chairman Dr. Baburam Bhattarai has urged the main opposition lawmakers to stop the obstruction in the parliament.

Speaking to the media persons at the premises of the House of Representatives on Monday, Bhattrai, who is also the former Prime Minister, said the UML lawmakers should feel ashamed to walk into the parliament after having dissolved it twice. 

The UML lawmakers should resign if they have a tint of morality instead of continuously obstructing the parliament, Bhattrai said. The UML lawmakers should feel shame to talk about the democracy, rule of law, supremacy parliament, court and constitution, Bhattrai said.
